Which UT Tyler documents these guides lean on

The 2026-27 catalog sets credits, courses and program-level hours. The Fall 2026 syllabi carry the working rules of each clinical course, from weekly minimums to who may precept. The School of Nursing's clinical policies and its preceptor guides, some dated 2022 and 2023, describe the placement steps, and older InPlace instructions still sit beside newer Exxat ones.

Where two UT Tyler sources disagree, such as 750 versus 675 FNP hours or InPlace versus Exxat, a guide shows both and says which is newer, so you can confirm the current rule with your course faculty.

Questions UT Tyler students ask

Is UT Tyler's graduate nursing handbook public?

Parts of it are. UT Tyler posts a Nursing Student Guide, clinical policies, preceptor guides and course syllabi, and these pages rely on them. Course-level rules can change each semester, so check your Canvas course before you plan.

Who clears a clinical site at UT Tyler?

Course faculty approve the preceptor and site, and the Clinical Coordinator verifies licenses, agreements and onboarding before you begin. Some courses send a clearance email, such as the AGACNP's Good to Go message, before hours can start.

Does UT Tyler still use InPlace?

UT Tyler moved graduate compliance and clinical management to Exxat from Spring 2024, replacing CastleBranch and InPlace, though some pages and syllabi still mention InPlace. The Exxat guide explains the change.

Are these guides only for Texas residents?

The NP guides are, because UT Tyler requires NP students to live in Texas and complete all clinical hours there. Some non-NP programs enroll students from other states, covered in the state authorization guide.
