Library, Writing and Support Services for UT Tyler Nursing Students
UT Tyler nursing students are served by the Robert R. Muntz Library, with CINAHL, PubMed and a graduate nursing research guide, and by the Center for Writing Excellence for APA and paper help. Which library is yours
UT Tyler runs two libraries, and nursing belongs to the Robert R. Muntz Library. The Watson W. Wise Medical Research Library serves the School of Medicine and the Department of Population Health Leadership and Analytics; Muntz serves every other academic program, the School of Nursing included.
Most searches start in SwoopSearch, the library's all-in-one search box, before moving into a single database for tighter filtering. Items Muntz does not hold can come through Interlibrary Loan, and the library's Ask service takes research questions.
For graduate students, the library matters most at three points: papers in the MSN core courses, the literature work behind a DNP Project, and the clinical questions a preceptor may send you home to look up. Knowing the right database saves hours at each of them.
Nursing databases and research guides
Two research guides are written for nursing students: the Nursing guide and the Graduate Nursing Library Guide, which includes a page on searching CINAHL. Both name the Nursing and Pharmacy Librarian as the contact for research help, and that librarian is worth a consultation before any large literature review.

UpToDate and the Cochrane Library earn their place on clinical days too, when you want a current summary to discuss with your preceptor after a patient visit. Bookmark the graduate guide: it keeps the database list, the CINAHL tutorial and the librarian's contact together in one place.
Writing help and tutoring
The Center for Writing Excellence, in CAS 212, offers 30-minute and 60-minute consultations to undergraduate and graduate students, in person or online. The Nursing Student Guide sends nursing students there for help with APA formatting.
Book a session early in a paper rather than the night before. School of Nursing Policy 3.4 gives plagiarism a zero on the assignment, with possible course failure or dismissal, and the Fall 2026 NURS 5370 syllabus carries a Turnitin similarity score policy. Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or GrammarlyGO are permitted only when your instructor explicitly allows them, so a syllabus that says nothing means no.
Tutoring services UT Tyler lists

Tutoring leans undergraduate, which suits BSN and RN to BSN students best. Graduate students should check Knack's listings each term, since coverage for them is selective.
Student Accessibility and Resources
Student Accessibility and Resources (SAR), in LIB 460, coordinates services and reasonable accommodations so students have equal access to UT Tyler's educational, social and co-curricular programs. If you have a disability or a health condition that affects school, SAR is the office that sets accommodations up.
Timing is where students slip. The Nursing Student Guide asks that accommodations be arranged 30 days before classes start, every semester. For spring 2027, with classes opening Jan 7, that means early December.
Clinical courses add one more consideration. If an accommodation could affect clinical days, raise it with SAR and your course faculty while the placement is still being arranged, so the site and schedule can reflect it from the start. The School of Nursing also publishes Technical Standards and Essential Functions, revised in January 2023, which describe the abilities the program expects of students.
Accommodations are arranged 30 days before classes, each semester. A request made in Week 1 arrives after the window the Nursing Student Guide sets.
Counseling, TimelyCare and the health clinic
The Student Counseling Center, in UC 3170, works on a collaborative stepped care model that begins with a One-at-a-Time appointment. For online care, UT Tyler offers TimelyCare, which suits students who live far from Tyler and fit care around shifts.
The University Health Clinic at 3310 Patriot Drive can give the immunizations the School of Nursing requires, which helps students near Tyler working through the clinical compliance list.
Graduate nursing school often lands on top of a full-time job and a family. Use these services before a hard semester turns into a crisis; asking early is part of finishing strong.
Keep the roles straight when a health issue touches school. SAR arranges accommodations for coursework and clinicals, while the counseling center and TimelyCare provide the care itself. Many students need both, and neither replaces a conversation with your course faculty about deadlines.
Career, veterans and course materials
