Exxat at UT Tyler: compliance, placement records and hour logs after InPlace and CastleBranch

What Exxat does for a UT Tyler graduate student

Think of Exxat as your clinical file. UT Tyler's graduate checklist moved compliance documents, beginning with the background check and drug screen, into Exxat from Spring 2024, and the same notice retired InPlace as the clinical management tool. Fall 2026 syllabi now connect placement forms and hour logs to it as well.

What Fall 2026 syllabi put in Exxat

• Compliance clearance, which PMHNP courses list as one of four conditions for starting clinical
• Registration for clinical placement and the forms for clinical hours in the Administration course NURS 5331
• FNP hour entries, made within 72 hours and matched to your preceptor's signature sheets
• DNP practice hours: at least 100 in each of NURS 7315 and NURS 7317, and 1,000 across the program
• An active subscription in every clinical course, which the student pays for

BSN students still use CastleBranch

The Exxat switch covered graduate programs. UT Tyler's BSN page still tells pre-licensure students to pay for and create a CastleBranch account, and the 2025-2026 Nursing Student Guide says clinical requirements must be complete in Castle Branch before a student attends clinical. Policy 2.1, last reviewed in 2023, also still names Castle Branch as the place all students submit CPR, immunization and insurance records to be released for registration, which is why graduate students sometimes meet the old name in policy text. Logging hours and evaluations

Hour logs are where Exxat touches your grade. FNP syllabi want entries each night within 72 hours, matched to the daily sheets your preceptor signs, and UT Tyler treats falsified or misrepresented clinical hours as an academic integrity violation. DNP students log practice hours there too, and approved post-baccalaureate hours can cover up to half of a course's requirement.

The PMHNP deadline appears as 48 hours in one part of NURS 5373 and 72 hours in another, so work to the shorter one. The full set of logging, weekly and daily limits is on clinical scheduling rules.

Evaluations run through the placement software as well. The 2023 guide had preceptors complete the Clinical Performance Evaluation through InPlace, and students evaluate the preceptor and the facility in the same system.
